Suicide Squad!

Image
The epic new revelatory genius comic book adaptation of DC's Suicide Squad  has been unveiled, after the version shown to the exclusive Hall H audience at San Diego's Comic-Con was leaked online. Warner Brothers have nailed almost every single comic book adaptation so far. I am rather psyched for the super villains of the DC universe to be shown on the big screen for everyone to see. Simply because this would never happen at Marvel's cinematic universe. I am obsessed with watching the trailer on repeat, to work out what is happening, and also Googling every single character on the cast list to work out which villain they're playing and which character they are the antagonist of. The main character is Batman who will be portrayed by the completely fresh and new to comic book world (other than Daredevil) Ben Affleck. The trailer score is simply sublimely meshed together with the slow build up of the trailer, which for a first look is pretty special for comic book...

"Chewie, we're home"

The brand spanking new second official teaser trailer for Star Wars The Force Awakens  has debuted on the internet, roughly 14 hours ago and there are many emotions that I was going through at the time and are still having now, even though I have watched it about 20 times since. John Boyega's as Finn as a Stormtrooper? "The force is strong in my family, my father has it, I have it, my sister has it, you have that power too." What we're hearing is a voice over from Luke Skywalker, it has been a long time since we have heard his voice withing the Star Wars universe, and nerdgasm's were had all over the galaxy in unison. But there is so much to be excited for, as this is simply the beginning of a one minute and 59 second teaser full of new and exciting Star Wars nuggets to be devoured. Daisy Ridley's Rey on Jakku with the new R2-D2 of the new era First off we are cruising along the new planet of Jakku, where it's most likely Daisy Ridl...

Wild by Cheryl Strayed. (Or a basic example of the roles for women in Hollywood changing for the better! Keep it coming Reese!)

I am a sucker for a book that ends up being translated to the big screen. I will always watch the trailer for the film and then get so interested in the book, that I read after something like this interests me, that I wish I wasn't going to see it being portrayed on the big screen; because that is where it will most likely have cuts and edits to the story and structure and the portrayal of the characters that will completely alter what I thought about everything from my own wild imagination. But ultimately, and hopefully all filmmakers who know that a good book can translate to the big screen with the right amount of understanding for the original text, will create something that the author intended and that fans of the book can delve into with the right amount of respect for the books intensity and feeling. W ild by Cheryl Strayed, happens to be just this exact description of a memoir, the second of the books that has been translated to the big screen that is basically an...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams eagerly awaited Star Wars Episode VII has finally arrived. We see John Boyega in the desert dressed as a Storm Trooper. An R2-D2. A load of Storm Troopers in an aircraft. One of the heroine's of the film flying on an aircraft. Some X-Wing fighters, with Oscar Isaac in particular being shown in battle it seems. And a dark Jedi menacingly lighting their sword shaped lightsaber in a snow covered forest. Then the Millenium Falcon emerging with the rapturous score of John Williams' original Star Wars theme, being attacked by some X-Wings. Then the Star Wars logo in front of a star covered galaxy. All layered by the very deeply voiced, very Benedict Cumberbatch sounding voice over, which may possibly be Max Von Sydow's deep and mysterious voice as he is on the cast list. But make of it what you will. My mind is blown. Just imagine what J.J. will come up with for the official trailer, so as not to give the whole thing away, but to capture...

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (or the best heroine to grace popular culture)

Image
When I first saw Buffy the Vampire Slayer  I was probably around the age of seven or eight years old and it was the mid 90's when girl power was most definitely in.  To aspire to be a vampire slayer was something I was obsessed with, I had a wild imagination and in my mind thought that vampire's did indeed exist. I would practice my high kicks like Buffy would do with Giles in the library at the high school. I was that obsessed with Buffy . I even used a stake of some kind that I had created out of a small stick, I was that hardcore a fan.  I had very nice dreams involving being bitten by Angel or Spike, at first it was definitely Angel who was my vampire crush, but in my latter years definitely Spike, the bad boy vampire. I was going through my pretty guy phase and not even a teenager yet. Buffy the Vampire Slayer  holds a special place in my heart as one of the best TV shows to ever be made, and I count myself lucky that I was allowed to e...

Interstellar keeps on expanding...

Image
Nolan's films always have a certain mystery to them. Every single film has had it's secrets. But these trailers are truly remarkable because it's from the brain of Christopher Nolan. Which when it created Inception  kept it all a mystery to us. Interstellar is another of these films. Just remark at these trailers that one at a time expand somewhat on what he's trying to say in his films. The first teaser trailer: To the official trailer: To the other official trailer#2: What do you think will happen...it's anybody's guess. But I was officially hooked about 6 months ago. Interstellar Finally, a proper almost three minute trailer for Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic  Interstellar  has arrived on the web. The full length trailer was shown before Godzilla in cinema screens, which is out now and thankfully been put straight onto the world wide web. It is well worth going to see an epic film like Godzilla  just to see this immersive, intriguing trailer on the big screen. What can we learn from the synopsis of the trailer, which is way more expansive and way more descriptive on what Nolan's sci-fi film will encompass, as the teaser encapsulates just what Nolan is famous for, as his flare for giving just what we need but making sure the mystery remains. Well with Michael Caine's voice over creating a great mystery as to what Nolan's idea of space travel or "interstellar travel" is all about, and just what McConnaughey's corn fields have to do with space travel. Cooper played by Matthew McConnaughey is a "well ...
