How To Train Your Dragon

How To Train Your Dragon seems to be yet another masterpiece from Dreamworks, the studio that brought the likes of Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar to life. This winning array of voices are as varied as the story lines lovable magical qualities, fit for child and adult alike.

The film presents the unlikely relationship between a Viking teenager named Hiccup voiced by Jay Baruchel (of Knocked Up fame) and a nigh un-catchable dragon oddly named Toothless.

Hiccup is seen as a failure in his father’s eyes (the chief of the village voiced by Gerard Butler), and is told to stay inside as the other vikings slay dragons who are taking their livestock.

However and somewhat inevitably Hiccup escapes and manages to capture a Night Fury dragon, without any real struggle. As he cares for Toothless, who has an injured wing, Hiccup learns how to become a Viking dragon slayer in a boot camp, and learns to toughen up.

As the unlikely relationship blooms the movie is really taken under the wing of a quality percent of endearing characters; with the interesting debut of Gerard Butler  (300 fame) to a children's animated flick, he lends his brutish voice to Stoick the Vast fleshing out perfectly for the harsh but lovable Viking dad.

With an unpredictable story line, with twists and turns along the way sure to capture the imaginations of children and adults alike, How to Train Your Dragon also has an unlikely ending, there is intent in the story that creates a magical world enjoyed by all ages and ultimately filled with a lot of heart.

When you're offered to watch a film in 3D sometimes there is worth to it and other times none whatsoever, luckily 3D is perfect this time to watch high flying action sequences that are equal times breathtaking, even for such an animated flick, taking no doubt, influence from Avatar’s own remarkable flying scenes.
