Tangled

Disney fairytale's are making a comeback. Their 50th animated feature celebrates all the usual magical qualities that refer to the original classics of pastime. This traditional Rapunzel fairy tale is given a slightly new interesting twist.

Rapunzel was born with magical hair, when she sings a song, it lights up and has magical healing powers. She has only known life in a tower, where her mother Gothel visits daily.

She dreams of the day when she can leave the tower, to see the lanterns lit on her 18th birthday. But her mother does not let her, until one day a thief named Flynn Rider hides in the tower away from some guards, and so the enchanting adventure begins.

Tangled Poster
An adventure that includes the best animal companions to date in a Disney film, Pascal, a very feisty, funny chameleon and Maximus, a very magnanimous noble horse from the kingdom.

The best and most genius touch is simple, make them unable to speak like a human; therefore there are no smart ass remarks, like with Eddie Murphy's Donkey in Shrek. Leaving the comedy to come from the faces and actions alone as they perform on the screen, to hilarious consequences, especially when Flynn and Maximus conflict, you half expect Maximus to burst out into smart ass territory.

Rapunzel, voiced by singer and actress Mandy Moore, brings real humour and real fight to a Disney heroine such esteemed qualities to a princess since the days of passive Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. This princess has way more spirit than all combined, qualities for girls little and older to admire.

Flynn Rider and the wanted poster disaster
One of the most alluring scenes of the film features thousands of lanterns, watch in awe as the screen is illuminated by thousands of glowing lights as well as lit in the reflection of the water surrounding our hero and heroine.

It's hard not to fall in love with Flynn Rider, especially his roguish charm, finally a handsome hero, a cross somewhere between Robin Hood and Indiana Jones, (if that's what Disney were aiming for, they succeeded).

With a story as unique, inventive and funny in almost every scene, you may want to watch it again to re-live the best celebration of the 50 years of animated features from the the world's best: Walt Disney Pictures.
