The Dark Knight Rises

The day has finally arrived; just before Christmas as well, brilliant Christmas present.

Christopher Nolan has delivered a corker of a first official trailer for The Dark Knight Rises.

Set eight years after the end of The Dark Knight, everything appears to be on the normal side in Gotham, but as Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle/Catwoman says to Batman/Bruce Wayne "You think this can last. There's a storm coming Mr Wayne. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, cause when it hits you're all gonna wonder how you ever got to live so large and leave so little for the rest of us".

This film was awarded the Most Anticipated Movie of 2012 at the Spike Awards, even before anything substantial was released for fans to feast their eyes on.

                                                       First official trailer for TDKR

Personally I am seriously over excited for this film, mainly because Nolan has upped the ante especially the talent in the casting. Tom Hardy as masked baddie Bane, Joseph Gordon Levitt as a cop, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate, an apparent love interest (good or bad, we obviously have no idea yet). Let it be stated that this film will be the last one to finish off a trilogy of epic Batman films.

So the story will bring it to a close and shut the book on Batman from Nolan's point of view, (you don't quite want to watch a film about Batman in the future, without comparing it to the first two and hopefully third instalments).

I leave you with one of the most epic lines of the trailer from Bane himself: "When Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die".

July 20 2012 will be a day to remember, I just hope it blows me away, just like The Dark Knight did in 2008- a truly brilliant cinematic experience...Nolan has to conquer it for me...or be on a par with it for it to equal the best trilogy of all time, especially in terms of a comic book trilogy.
