Interstellar keeps on expanding...

Image
Nolan's films always have a certain mystery to them. Every single film has had it's secrets. But these trailers are truly remarkable because it's from the brain of Christopher Nolan. Which when it created Inception  kept it all a mystery to us. Interstellar is another of these films. Just remark at these trailers that one at a time expand somewhat on what he's trying to say in his films. The first teaser trailer: To the official trailer: To the other official trailer#2: What do you think will happen...it's anybody's guess. But I was officially hooked about 6 months ago. Mankind was born on earth, it wasn't meant to die here

Interstellar Finally, a proper almost three minute trailer for Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic  Interstellar  has arrived on the web. The full length trailer was shown before Godzilla in cinema screens, which is out now and thankfully been put straight onto the world wide web. It is well worth going to see an epic film like Godzilla  just to see this immersive, intriguing trailer on the big screen. What can we learn from the synopsis of the trailer, which is way more expansive and way more descriptive on what Nolan's sci-fi film will encompass, as the teaser encapsulates just what Nolan is famous for, as his flare for giving just what we need but making sure the mystery remains. Well with Michael Caine's voice over creating a great mystery as to what Nolan's idea of space travel or "interstellar travel" is all about, and just what McConnaughey's corn fields have to do with space travel. Cooper played by Matthew McConnaughey is a "well ...

David Fincher knows how to make a movie trailer...

Image
David Fincher first popped onto the scene in 1995 with the deeply disturbing, but incredibly outstanding, dark thriller  Se7en and   then followed it up with Fight Club a mere four years later that delved deeper in the intricate detail of psychological thrillers. Fincher has always been intrigued and ultimately interested in dark subject matters. Never has he made a comedy, and I think if he did it would definitely be a black comedy. The man is a genius director, an auteur and one of the best directors in the hall of fame. The nearest film that even comes close to a comedy, that features slight comedic elements in the structure of the film comes with 2010's The Social Network . An in depth look at the story that led to the biggest social networking site and one of the most absurd court cases for the copyright of a website. The world of business and young entrepreneurs in the 21st century. Constantly interested in lighting and atmospheric familiarity in his film...

Captain America The Winter Soldier...(featuring my second favourite villain in the Marvel universe!)

Image
It is refreshing to see a comic book film as bold as this one. To explore a completely distinctive bearing of this superheroes existence as the ultimate "good guy" and live up to his persona as the iconic poster boy for American patriotism, and still be one of the best Marvel films up there with  Avengers Assemble . Captain Steve Rogers has been frozen for 70 years. Awakened from the ice into the 21st century to help the Avengers, he is still adjusting to the modern era. Now working for S.H.I.E.L.D, he makes the transition slowly but surely from not knowing his place, to becoming the beacon of hope for everything good in this world. Whilst kicking some butt and charming everyone around him. Captain America is the only superhero without any actual product of superpowers; but that what was administered through a super serum. He doesn't have the power of flight, he isn't a god of thunder, or has a heart made of iron. But other than having superhuman strength, power ...

From Monsters to Godzilla...or (Gojira)

T he brilliance of Monsters, (the 2010 debut film from director Gareth Edwards)   lied with its creation from such a tight budget. The fact that the very monsters who were wreaking havoc, war and destruction on humanity weren't revealed until the end of the film, is weaved so well into a fantastic plot twist you won't see coming. Director Gareth Edwards wrote, directed and created the critically lauded film with the special effects being created from scratch on his own laptop. Managing to create such a film that took everyone by surprise; that it was compared to an indie  Cloverfield  in terms of being a   hit, not commercially but for the most critically lauded as one of the best monster films for a long while. I had no expectations whatsoever about the film Monsters , that when the film had finished so brilliantly and the credits rolled up the screen, I had this great feeling that some films are greatly under appreciated. It may not have featured a h...

Just a little something...

I'm a big fan of Zach Braff on Facebook, he posts some hilarious stuff for his fans, and just recently shared a video on his page uploaded from December 2011 to YouTube, he recorded with his best friend,  Scrubs' Turk   (Donald Faison). T he video is a cover of Frank Loesser's "Baby It's Cold Outside" a Christmas classic, but with a JD and Turk twist, showcasing their beautiful bromance and adding some charming hilarity to a simple song. It got me thinking, there are very few celebrities uploading YouTube videos, that are having their own YouTube pages, for instance with the multi talented Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. Here are some of my favourite videos, from two of my favourite actors/actresses who have a certain charming quality to them, which makes them even more endearing and stand out from the rest of Hollywood. 1. Zach Braff and Donald Faison share some Christmas joy and love with this brilliant, funny and very sunny cover of...

Blue Jasmine

Image
A s Woody Allen films go this one has all the crucial ingredients of a classic: humour being the most recognisable, though at times it is incredibly dark. It also has a bleak look at relationships, amid betrayal and the backdrop and characteristic setting of New York as the filler for all the glamour within which Jasmine lives. San Francisco comes as the welcoming free spirited alter ego city to the high flying New York skyline. Jasmine has a complete mental breakdown T he story of Blue Jasmine , centres around a high flying Manhattan socialite with a fraudster husband, who among other things is an adulterer and all round con artist played by Alec Baldwin incredibly well with a great sliminess to him. Jasmine ends up living with her adoptive sister in San Francisco, Ginger (Sally Hawkins) who is a down and out character in relation to the sophisticated socialite existence Jasmine is used to. She is brought down to her sisters level, no town houses or charity functions to organ...
