WHO will be the 12th Doctor?

At 7pm tonight on BBC 1 an unveiling of the most iconic role in TV history, the sci-fi role of a lifetime: the Doctor from Doctor Who will be uncovered in front of a live studio audience of fans and worldwide at the same time.

I think this makes up for the fact that fans at Comic-Con San Diego were the first to see the Doctor Who 50th anniversary trailer before the UK fans, who were there to begin with and always have been.

You can tell I'm pissed about not being at the biggest nerd gathering in the world.

Moffat is the man with the choice, his choice could affect the future of the show. It will be the right choice, but just like with Matt Smith who was the youngest actor to play the Doctor, who wasn't even born with Who on the box, they could make a controversial choice; a woman or a younger Doctor. It only took me half an hour into Smith's first appearance to fall in love with his portrayal of the Doctor.

I am hoping it will be the same for the 12th.

Somehow it doesn't seem likely that the choice could sway towards controversy, it is still a children's TV show at it's heart.

The BBC news website reveals the bookies favourites. My favourite out of their choices is the one and only Andrew Scott who portrayed a nemesis of Moffat's other TV show Sherlock as Moriarty, he can portray any evil, dark, comedic role, these three things are what the Doctor faces daily.

It can be done, most of the companions have appeared already once before when they played a bit part in the show, even a former Doctor appeared before he became the eponymous Doctor.

But what is making me feel queasy and uneasy about this announcement and the new unveiling procedure is, will it make the show more interesting, intriguing and excited for the prospects of the show after the Christmas special and it's 50th anniversary episode just before that.

I for one am agog with excitement. The whole Whovian fandom is alight with excitement. Fans across the globe are staying awake to the BBC's live announcement, and will feature past Doctors and past companions as well as the 11th Doctor to celebrate the show and the new revealed Doctor.

What do you think, who are your favourite choices?

It's like Christmas has come early.
